BOYCE AVENUE: From YouTube To Live Shows.
words + photography by Nadine Goetz
Boyce Avenue is an American rock band from Florida consisting of the brothers Alejandro (vocals/guitar), Daniel (guitar), and Fabian Manzano (bass/percussion). They have risen to fame by covering popular songs and uploading their performances on YouTube in the early 2000s. They release both original music as well as covers of classic songs. Their first headline tour was in 2009, which they used as a chance to connect with their online fan base. The three brothers have even supported One Direction in 2012 during their debut ‘Up All Night Tour’ in the UK and Ireland, as well as performed with the Goo Goo Dolls in August 2010. Their covers on YouTube racked up tens of millions of views back in the day, and they became a YouTube pop star phenomenon. Even today, in 2025, the brothers still have around 3 million monthly listeners on Spotify. It’s clear that they have been able to build a loyal fanbase, which was also evident during their live performance at the Cadogan Hall in London on May 16th 2025. The venue was filled with people anticipating the brother’s performance.
They were supported by Connie Talbot, a British singer who was the runner-up of the first series of Britain’s Got Talent in 2007. She has released a few covers with Boyce Avenue in 2025, such as ‘You’re Still The One’ or ‘Without You’. Talbot mentioned during her set that she is good friends with the brothers, expressing her gratitude for them taking her on tour as their opener and for the videos, songs, and covers they have done throughout the years. She played a few originals, as well as unreleased songs and covers throughout her set, convincing the audience with her raw vocals. Connie talked about how she has had a stalker since she was 13 years old and went on to sing a song that she wrote from the perspective of her stalker, which, for me, was a memorable moment from her set.
When Boyce Avenue took the stage, they got some loud cheers from the audience. They went on to sing covers such as ‘Every Breath You Take’, ‘Stand By Me’, or ‘Sex On Fire’. They even brought out Connie Talbot for a duet throughout their set. The crowd was singing along to the covers of classic songs and later during the set the audience seemingly woke up, the whole venue standing up, clapping and dancing along to ‘Mr Brightside’. They thanked the audience during their set, expressing how grateful they are for people taking time out of their day to be here by saying, “You could have chosen to be anywhere tonight, but you‘re here”. They finished their set with a cover of the Goo Goo Dolls ‘Iris’ which the crowd was singing along to loudly, earning them lots of cheers and applause.
Overall, it was a great evening hearing the brothers’ rendition of many classic songs and being able to hear all of those songs live, singing along in a laid-back atmosphere. It is evident that they have a loyal fanbase, which continues to show up for them, and that they like to connect to their online fanbase, for example, by the chance to win a M&G with them after their show by scanning a QR code at the merchandise table. The three brothers are currently on tour in the UK and will continue with a few shows in Germany as well as a show in Amsterdam later on this month before touring America by the end of the year.
