Pop sensation Nessa Barrett brought her Aftercare World Tour to the UK, with many of the dates sold out and additional nights having been added to the tour, she showed us exactly why she deserved the outcome of support she received. Nessa Barrett initially built herself a name on the platform TikTok but it was around 2020 that she made the move to music creating herself an alternative, dark-pop style image. Barrett released her album titled ‘Aftercare’ back in November 2024 which was soon followed by her tour which kicked off in February, seeing support from fantastic artists Ari Abdul and Sombr.

Supporting Nessa Barrett at the O2 Forum Kentish Town, London was artist Sombr. The 19 year old from New York, real name Shane Boose, is an American singer-songwriter. Despite not being the headliner he most definitely pulled a crowd with the room singing along to his music. He interacts so naturally with his fans and at one point acknowledges someone toward the front with their friend on face-time watching. His set list consisted of songs such as ‘makes me want you’, ‘perfume’, and ‘i don’t know you anymore’. Sombr’s style has such a great mix of an alternative rock vibe with electronic and atmospheric elements. The songs are catchy and cool, with ‘undressed’ being a personal favourite of mine. I love the melody and layers of vocals throughout the chorus. Other fan favourites on the setlist were ‘caroline’, ‘would’ve been you’, and ‘back to friends’. I’m always in awe when I come across someone like Sombr as he’s still young yet creating such a name for himself already, making great music.

The time came for Nessa Barrett to take to the stage and she stepped out in a silver, sequinned two piece with the bottom half being adorned with shiny silver beads that caught the light beautifully as she danced throughout her set.
Upon coming onto stage she grabbed her bass guitar and they start with the song ‘DIRTY LITTLE SECRET’. As she moves into ‘DISCO’ she loses the guitar and dances back & forth the stage before playing ‘S.L.U.T.’, dancing around her mic stand at times. Looking out into the crowd you could see many cowboy hats, something of which has become somewhat of a staple piece to Nessa & her fans. I really enjoy her entire aesthetic as an artist - from her music being of a pop/rock vibe but with haunting undertones, the clothing choices for shows, and even the stage design/graphic designs. More songs from Nessa Barrett’s set were ‘heartbreak in the hamptons’, ‘HEARTBEAT’, ‘EDWARD SCISSORHANDS’, ‘MUSTANG BABY’, and ‘LOVE LOOKS PRETTY ON YOU’. I really enjoyed what I saw from her set and I definitely need to deep dive further into the songs I’m not as familiar with. After finishing her set she returned for the encore of ‘the one that should’ve got away’, ‘die first’, and finally ending with ‘P*RNSTAR’.
