THE COUNTDOWN TO SLAM DUNK FESTIVAL 2025.
words by Nicola O'Connell
Festival season is officially upon us and we cannot wait to be starting off with Slam Dunk in only 4 days time. Last year was an absolute blast, I myself am most definitely excited to be returning, and especially with another fantastic line-up. In our previous post we spoke about the first wave of artists/bands announced but with the festival now coming up fast we want to highlight a whole load more of who else is performing and who will be on our personal radar for the day.
Starting off with some familiar names to us at crookedjukebox. we have Greywind, NOAHFINNCE, Hot Milk, and Point North. Greywind are a band I got to see at the beginning of the year whilst they supported Madina Lake on their tour throughout the UK. They are a sibling duo made up of Steph (vocals) and Paul O’Sullivan (guitar). With their emo-rock/pop-punk vibes I can definitely see them being a hit at this festival. Greywind are to rock The Key Club Stage early afternoon so make sure to check them out!
Another I’m super excited for is pop-punk singer-songwriter NOAHFINNCE. Again, I saw NOAHFINNCE last November & with Slam Dunk being his only show of the year I highly recommend anyone with an inkling of wanting to see him snap that opportunity up. The ‘Growing Up On The Internet’ star has just been announced as featuring on Rock Sound’s ‘Blurryface Reborn’ tribute album, which is in celebration of Twenty One Pilots’ ‘Blurryface’ turning 10 years old. So if you want to hear Noah’s cover of ‘The Judge’ you can click here to find where to get the album.
Another popular name on the line-up is Hot Milk who will be headlining the Kerrang! stage later in the evening. Hot Milk, hailing from Manchester, are a band with an affinity for -as having described themselves- “singing sad songs with happy melodies”. The band has announced their second album titled ‘Corporation P.O.P’ which will be out 27th June, and if you head to Spotify (or any streaming service) you’ll find ‘Insubordinate Ingerland’, ‘Swallow This’ and ‘90 Seconds To Midnight’ which are 3 singles from the upcoming release. You can even check out our recent coverage of Hot Milk here from their Norwich gig with Mouth Culture in support.
Point North are an American pop-punk band from Los Angeles, California. Since first hearing them whilst supporting Set It Off back in March they definitely fast became one of my top bands to listen to this year. I actually am going to place bets they’ll be in my top 5 on Spotify Wrapped this year (you can hold me to that). My current favourite song of theirs is ‘WORLD vs PEACE’, but honestly everything I’ve heard so far is brilliant. Point North will be rocking the Kerrang! Stage about 1:30pm and I’m not asking, I’m begging you take even 5 minutes to come over and listen for even one song. They’re so worth it.
So with around 50 bands/artists and 6 stages during this years Slam Dunk Fest’, you’re sure to find a whole lot of good music wherever you find yourself throughout the day. Don’t forget the likes of A Day To Remember, Alkaline Trio, Electric Callboy, Neck Deep, The Used, The Starting Line who are set to play the days. Kid Bookie, Rain City Drive, Delilah Bon, As It Is, Twin Atlantic too. There really is so much to look forward to. Head to the signing tent to potentially meet some of your fav’s, grab yourself some cool merch. There’s also soo many food vendors that’ll be on site - be sure to check the full list on the Slam Dunk app.
And MAKE SURE to check the weather before you go. Last year at South was brutally hot, and though it’s looking to be a warm but cloudy day - SLAP ON THE SUNSCREEN. Just in case? (but if it rains now - don’t you dare blame me). And maybe save the festival map site to your phone for ease of access.
Have yourselves a fantastic festival, stay hydrated and stay safe. Keep your belongings and phones close - because as much as we like to think the best of people, some unfortunately do come with their sticky fingers.
